FAQs

Quick Fixes & Troubleshooting
Why does my watch change the date at 12:00 noon instead of midnight?

This almost always means the watch is set 12 hours out (AM/PM cycle is reversed). Many watches only change the date when the hands pass “midnight” internally—if the time is offset, the change happens at midday instead.

How to fix it

  1. Pull the crown out to the time-setting position (usually the furthest click).
  2. Turn the hands forward until you pass 12:00 again (advance by roughly 12 hours).
  3. Watch for the date change—once it changes at midnight, your AM/PM cycle is correct.
  4. Set the correct time and push/screw the crown back in.

Tip: If your model has a date, avoid using the quickset date function late at night (see note in “Setting the date”) to protect the date-change mechanism.

How do I wind my SICURA watch?

Winding keeps the mainspring charged so the movement runs smoothly. The method depends on whether your watch is manual-wind or automatic (self-winding).

Step-by-step

  1. Remove the watch from your wrist (recommended for better control and to protect the crown).
  2. If your watch has a screw-down crown, gently unscrew it by turning it counterclockwise until it releases.
  3. Turn the crown clockwise to wind:
  • Manual-wind: typically 20–40 turns from a stopped state. You’ll feel the crown become firmer as it nears full wind. Stop immediately when you feel strong resistance—forcing it can damage the movement.
  • Automatic: about 20–40 turns is usually enough to get it started if it has stopped. Wearing the watch will continue winding it through wrist motion.
  1. When finished, push the crown back in. If it’s screw-down, press gently and screw it down clockwise until snug (do not overtighten).

If your watch has stopped

  • Wind it first (20–40 turns), then set the time/date.

Best practice

  • If you don’t wear an automatic daily, give it a few winds before wearing to ensure strong power reserve and stable timekeeping.
How do I set the time correctly?

Setting the time properly also ensures the date changes at the right moment.

Steps

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable), then pull the crown out to the furthest position.
  2. Turn the crown to move the hands.
  3. If your watch has a date, confirm you are in the correct AM/PM:
  • Slowly advance the hands forward until the date clicks over—that moment is midnight.
  • From there, set the current time accurately.

Accuracy tip

  • If you’re setting it to an exact time, stop the seconds hand (if your watch has hacking seconds) and set the minute hand slightly ahead, then gently back to remove gear slack, and wait to push the crown in at the exact reference time.
How do I set the date?

Most watches have a quickset date at the first crown position.

Steps

  1. Pull the crown to the first click (halfway position).
  2. Turn the crown (often clockwise) to advance the date.

Important safety note (date-change “danger zone”)To reduce risk of damaging the date mechanism, avoid quickset date changes when the watch is actively preparing to change the date—commonly between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM (this window can vary by movement).Safer method: set the time to around 6:30, set the date, then set the correct time.

My watch is suddenly running very fast—what happened?

If a mechanical watch begins gaining minutes per day, the most common cause is magnetization. Modern life is full of magnets (laptops, tablets, speakers, handbags with magnetic clasps, phone accessories, induction chargers), and magnetism can cause the hairspring to stick slightly, making the watch run fast.

What to do

  • A local watchmaker can typically demagnetize the watch in minutes using a dedicated demagnetizer—this is straightforward and usually inexpensive.
  • If the issue persists after demagnetizing, contact support for further guidance.

Prevention

  • Keep your watch away from strong magnetic sources (speaker drivers, magnetic clasps, charging pads).

Our Watches
Where can I find the case size and dimensions?

Each SICURA model includes full sizing details on its product page under Specifications. You’ll typically find:

  • Case diameter (mm)
  • Lug-to-lug length (mm)
  • Thickness (mm)
  • Lug width (strap size) (mm)
  • Weight (often varies by strap/bracelet)
Are SICURA watches water-resistant?

Yes. Water resistance varies by model and is stated on the product page and/or case back.

General guidance

  • 100m (10 ATM): swimming and snorkeling
  • 200m/300m (20/30 ATM): swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving (model-dependent)
  • 400m/1000m; deep diving

Critical rules

  • Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in or screwed down before water exposure.
  • Don’t operate the crown/pushers while the watch is wet (unless your model explicitly supports it).
  • Avoid showers, saunas, and hot tubs: heat and soap can weaken seals and gaskets over time.
  • Water resistance can reduce as seals age—regular servicing helps maintain it.
How do I clean my watch case safely?

For deeper cleaning (especially for sports models)

  1. Use lukewarm water on a cloth (not directly under a strong stream).
  2. Use a soft toothbrush for crevices (case back edges, bracelet links).
  3. Dry thoroughly and polish lightly with a microfiber cloth.

Avoid

  • Chemical cleaners, solvents, abrasive pads, and ultrasonic cleaners (unless done professionally).

Straps & Bracelets
How do I change my strap?

Most SICURA straps use quick-release spring bars.

Quick-release method

  1. Place the watch face-down on a clean microfiber cloth.
  2. Slide the small quick-release lever inward to compress the spring bar.
  3. Lift the strap out.
  4. To install: insert one end of the spring bar into the lug hole, compress the lever, align, and release.
  5. Gently tug to ensure it’s seated.

If you’re using a bracelet or non-quick-release strap

  • You may need a spring bar tool; if unsure, a watchmaker can assist quickly.
What wrist sizes do your straps fit?

Standard straps typically fit wrists around 16 cm to 23 cm, depending on model and buckle position. Some models may offer:

  • Short straps for smaller wrists
  • Extra-long straps for larger wrists

Tip: The most comfortable fit usually allows a finger to slide under the strap without forcing.

How do I clean a leather strap?

Leather is durable but should be kept dry.

Care

  • Wipe with a dry cloth after wear.
  • Use a leather conditioner/balm sparingly (follow product directions).
  • Let it air-dry naturally if it gets damp.

Avoid

  • Soaking, swimming, showering, or harsh soaps—these can stiffen, discolor, or crack leather.
How do I clean a metal bracelet?
  1. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth.
  2. For deeper cleaning, use a soft toothbrush with water (mild soap is optional if the watch is water-resistant and the crown is secured).
  3. Rinse using a damp cloth, then dry completely with a microfiber cloth.

Avoid

  • Chemical cleaners and abrasive products.

Shopping & Orders
What does “Pre-order” mean?

A pre-order is a product you can purchase before it is physically in stock. The product page will show an estimated dispatch date—the time frame in which we expect to ship your order.

Notes

How it typically works

  • You submit details and photos.
  • We review condition, authenticity, and market value.
  • If approved, you receive an offer and instructions.

Please visit our [Trade-In Program Page] for full terms and steps.
